ARAD PDTD RTS
Arts Educational Ballet teacher & Chiswick town hall Ballet teacher
Kirsty began dancing at the age of 5 in her hometown of Plymouth. It wasn’t long before she realised her true passion for ballet and dance and therefore decided to persue it as a career. She appeared in many shows from the age of 6 and her professional career started at the tender age of 9. Prior to her vocational training, Kirsty supplemented her local training with many associate classes and summer schools. This included RAD scholars and RAD, The Royal Ballet School and The Wells summer schools. In 2006, she gained a full scholarship to attend Northern Ballet School in Manchester, appearing in many full length classical ballets with the school’s performing company Manchester City Ballet, including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker and Coppélia, choreographed and directed by David Needham. During her training, Kirsty achieved Distinction in all grades of RAD ballet, including Advanced 2. After graduation, she embarked on a career travelling around the world performing in all genres of dance including Classical Ballet, Musical Theatre, Tap, Ballroom, Latin American and Jazz. For the majority of her roles, Kirsty was appointed to the position of Dance Captain and Show Company Manager and has also performed the role of Swing Dancer. Kirsty was fortunate enough to travel to many exotic destinations and visited 98 countries doing what she loves.
Kirsty now wants to pass on her wealth of knowledge to her students and inspire them to strive to be the best they can be. In June 2016, she gained a place on the prestigious Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma course at the Royal Academy of Dance. Throughout the course, Kirsty has gained many valuable skills in dance pedagogy, dance teaching theories and the foundations and progressions of classical ballet to name but a few. Kirsty is thoroughly enjoying her career as a ballet teacher and aims to inspire and encourage students to be expressive and passionate dancers.
